The 2023 Simon Family Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from four iconic vineyard sites—Sleeping Lady, Beckstoffer Georges III, Collinetta and Tench Vineyard—each contributing its own dimension of character and complexity. Together, they form a cohesive expression of the Napa Valley at its finest.
Tasting Notes
The wine opens with vibrant aromatics of dark red and black fruits layered with subtle savory undertones. On the palate, it is fresh and focused, with bright acidity that lifts the fruit and carries it seamlessly across a long, expressive finish. Firm, well-defined tannins provide structure and balance, framing flavors of ripe berries and classic Cabernet nuances. Enjoyable in its youth for its energy and precision, this wine also possesses the architecture to age beautifully for years to come.
The 2023 growing season earned its reputation as “The Vintage of a Lifetime,” marked by one of the longest and most even-tempered growing seasons Napa Valley has experienced in over a decade. Consistent, mild weather paired with abundant sunshine allowed for extended hang time and slow, even ripening, resulting in exceptional fruit quality and above average yields.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley comes from a mix of sites including Sleeping Lady, G3, Collinetta, Tench, and a small amount of Vine Hill Ranch and reveals smoky red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with roasted herbs, graphite, meaty, beefy nuances, and some floral notes. It’s rich and full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine yet building tannins, and a great finish. Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 22 months in barrels, it has the structure and depth to evolve for decades while already offering plenty of hedonistic appeal today. It can be drunk any time over the coming 30 years. Drink 2025-2055.
“The classic 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is all varietal and comes from a mix of the Georges III, Sleeping Lady, Rocca Collinetta, and Tench vineyards. It has an outstanding nose of red and blac…k fruits, chocolaty oak, graphite, and a touch of chalky minerality. This carries to a medium to full-bodied 2022 offering upfront fruit, ripe, soft tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. There are roughly 8,000 cases produced, and this is well worth your time and money.”

It’s medium to full-bodied, dark-…fruited—cassis and black cherries—and loamy, with a thick coating of cedary mulch, but it’s soft and velvety on the long, slightly warm finish.”
