Story
Double Blessings is a heartfelt tribute to our twin sons, Michael and Peter—two remarkable individuals, each with a unique spirit. To honor them, our winemaker, Maayan Koschitzky, created two distinct wines, each crafted as a single varietal expression: one predominantly from Cabernet Franc and the other from Cabernet Sauvignon. Both are sourced from Napa Valley and produced with the same precision and care, yet they reveal strikingly different personalities, one structured and contemplative, the other vibrant and expressive. More than just a pair of wines, Double Blessings reflect our family’s determination to grow, and the extraordinary gift of being blessed with twins.
Tasting Notes
Composed in nearly equal parts from three renowned Napa Valley vineyards, including Tench Vineyard, Beckstoffer Georges III, and Sleeping Lady, this wine embodies the essence of site driven complexity. Each vineyard contributes a distinct character: Tench lends power and dark intensity, Georges III provides structure and classic Rutherford dust, while Sleeping Lady offers elegance and lifted aromatics. Woven together with precision, these components create a wine of remarkable balance and depth.
Focused and layered, the 2022 Double Blessings ‘Michael’ Cabernet Sauvignon opens with dark tones of black cherry and currant, accented by mocha, cedar, and a trace of tar. The palate is powerful with dense notes of ground espresso, cast iron, and clove oil. Fine grained tannins give way to a lingering finish of blackberry preserves, game, and roasted herbs.
Released November 2025
“It’s structured, has ripe tannins, and is a very different style compared to the perfumed, elegant, floral Peter release.”
A mix of a few top sites, including Tench, Sleeping Lady, Vine Hill Ranch, and Collinetta, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Blessings Michael is a glass-staining purple-hued Cabernet that offers cassis, blueberries, black olives, iron, and smoked tobacco-driven aromatics. It’s full-bodied, rich, and powerful on the palate, with ripe, velvety tannins and a sensational finish. Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 22 months in barrel, it’s a shockingly good, blockbuster effort that still has terrific balance and purity. It should drink brilliantly over the coming 25-30 years or more. Drink 2025-2050.
“The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Blessings Michael (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Tench, Georges III, and Sleeping Lady vineyards) is more concentrated and dense, with powerful… aromatics, medium to full body, a pure, layered, supple mouthfeel, and a great finish. This darker fruited, spicy, classic Napa Valley beauty will keep for 15+ years.”
“Double Blessings Michael is full-bodied, with concentrated blackberry fruits, a plethora of grainy tannins, scorched herb aromatics, dried thyme and sage, espresso bean, and mocha. It’s a richly expressi…ve wine with good grip and excellent mineral tension. It’s a sink-your-teeth-in kind of wine with lots of power and drive. It has a long, spicy finish.”
“All Cabernet Sauvignon, with the sourcing skewed toward Oakville, the 2021 Double Blessings Cabernet Sauvignon Michael delivers slightly oaky overtones backed by ripe black cherries. There’s mo…re upfront fruit here, and the wine is almost jammy, but it’s balanced and savory in the end. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated yet supple, it finishes long, ripe and tannic.”
“The 2021 Double Blessings Michael is more powerful and mineral-laced, with darker currants, iron, chalky minerals, and leafy tobacco to go with a powerful medium to full-bodied style on the palate. It’s… structured, has ripe tannins, and is a very different style compared to the perfumed, elegant, floral Peter release.”
“2019 Double Blessings Cabernet Sauvignon Michael, named after one of the Simons’ twin sons. This bottling leans more toward Oakville in its sourcing, giving it a softer plusher feel. Black cherries… dominate the nose, joined by hints of loamy earth, while the full-bodied palate is broad and expansive yet not overly weighty, with a freshness and lightness that provides an almost joyful element to the lingering finish. It’s all Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 18 months in 70% new French oak.”
