Double Blessings

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon | Oakville, St. Helena, Coombsville | Napa Valley
Fall 2022 Release
Story
There may be no greater incentive than being told you can’t do something. Double Blessings, a tribute to our twin sons, Michael and Peter, are wines borne out of a fierce determination to overcome odds and create a family. Although they are twins, Michael and Peter are very different. Michael is our “night,” a deep thinker with a complex personality. Peter is “day,” mild and happy with a bright outlook.
We tasked our winemaker, Maayan Koschitzky, with creating two distinct Cabernet Sauvignons to reflect our sons’ personalities, a project that appealed to his belief that a single varietal can express itself in uniquely different ways. Although the wines are both sourced from Napa Valley, they are, like our sons, quite distinct. The grapes for Michael (black label) come from cool sites in Coombsville and Oakville, vineyards with heavier soils that result in more old school, tannic and structured wines. Peter (white label) is sourced from warmer sites in Oakville and St. Helena and is more approachable with a sweeter tannin structure.
Michael Tasting Notes
Michael is vibrant with notes of red and black fruit and layers of dried herbs. Aging in 70% new French oak lends great acidity, and the layering and complexity of this well-structured wine is best revealed over time.
Peter Tasting Notes
Peter shows juicy undertones with Christmas spices and a sweet tannin structure. Aging in 80% new French oak brings a refinement to the wine’s robust nature, making it ever more pleasing and approachable, and the texture and tension are perfectly aligned.
