Collinetta was purchased by the Simon family in the Spring of 2025, becoming the winery’s first Estate Vineyard. Prior to the acquisition, winemaker Maayan Koschintzky had sourced fruit from this vineyard for over a decade as part of his work as Director of Winemaking for Atelier Melka, and Collinetta had long been the “secret weapon” behind many of the Napa Valley’s top wines. Collinetta also played a large role in the 2021 Simon Family Estate’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, which received 100 points from Decanter.
Located in Coombsville AVA, and situated on a scenic knoll with 360-degree exposures overlooking the Coombsville “caldera”, Collinetta Vineyard boasts a unique microclimate ideal for premium wine production. The soils are composed primarily of well-drained volcanic ash and cobbly loam, interspersed with veins of basalt and rhyolite. This combination provides excellent drainage and a moderate water-holding capacity, fostering small berries of great concentration and aromatic intensity. The cooler microclimate of Coombsville extends the growing season, preserving vibrant acidity and aromatic finesse even in warmer vintages.
Beginning in the fall of 2025, Collinetta is being completely replanted to further enhance the quality of the fruit from this exceptional site, by changing row orientation, trellising, and training, all under the direction of Simon Family Estate’s winemaker, Maayan Koschintzky.
