Located on the eastern benchlands of Rutherford just north of Oakville, McGah Vineyard is a historic 65-acre property that exemplifies the diversity and depth of Napa Valley terroir. Nestled between the Silverado Trail and the Mayacamas foothills, the vineyard benefits from long afternoon sun, cool evening air, and gravelly red loam soils that provide superb drainage and low fertility conditions ideal for producing fruit of concentration and purity.
While Rutherford is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon, McGah Vineyard stands apart as one of the rare Napa sites where Grenache and Sauvignon Blanc have been carefully cultivated for decades. The Grenache blocks, among the few remaining in Napa Valley, yield small, thick-skinned berries that produce wines of remarkable aromatic intensity and textural finesse—offering lifted red fruit, spice, and minerality uncommon in the region. The Sauvignon Blanc, planted in lighter alluvial sections of the vineyard, captures the precision and freshness of the site’s cooler nighttime temperatures, delivering wines that are bright, layered, and beautifully structured.
Family-owned and meticulously farmed since 1990, McGah Vineyard continues to supply a select group of vintners committed to small-scale, site-expressive winemaking. For Simon Family Estate, the Grenache and Sauvignon Blanc from McGah represent a distinctive expression of Napa Valley—wines that honor both heritage and individuality, crafted from one of the region’s most singular and enduring vineyards.
